Its Journey Towards Thirteen Years of Commitment to Service

The establishment of the High School we know today is the respond of the City Government of Caloocan to the community’s clamor for a public secondary school in the area of Maypajo since majority of grade school graduates in the vicinity were forced to continue their secondary education in public high schools in nearby cites. Geographically, the area of Maypajo is nearer to public high schools in the City of Manila than the ones in our city. The facts mentioned have triggered the City Council for the passing of an ordinance which paved way to the establishment of Maypajo High School in 2005 to make secondary education more accessible to the incoming high school students in the area.

On its pilot year of operation, the late Miss Grace C. Tabo, a seasoned Master Teacher from M.B. Asistio Sr. High School-Unit I, was assigned as the first Officer-In-Charge together with four other teachers. At first, MHS was housed in the H.E. Room of Maypajo Elementary School and eventually transferred to Sampalukan Elementary School where it temporarily occupied three instructional classrooms. On February 8, 2006 the school occupied the two-storey, eight-classroom high school building located in its present school compound.

Initially, there were three classes in the first year totaling to 120 students. During this year, the school has earned numerous recognitions in the cluster, division and regional competitions for academics and sports. In 2008, MHS became Maypajo Integrated School, an institution formed through the fusion of two independent schools, Maypajo Elementary School and Maypajo High School which was led by Dr. Abigail S. Ignacio, now a retired principal who was known for her active involvement in national organizations for school heads and as one of the consultants of the Department of Education. Dr. Salome V. Salasac and Mrs. Melanita B. Pantalla were among the other principals who served during the integrated years in 2010 and 2012 respectively.

In 2013, Maypajo High School was reborn as it was declared again as an independent school under the management of Ms. Julie N. Danao, a well respected Master Teacher from Caloocan High School. The management was then succeeded by Mrs. Merly T. Sandoval in 2014.

To date, on its thirteenth year of operation, the school is being headed by Mr. Amorzosimo V. Cortez, a tested name in school management and supervision, having two school buildings housing 1,841 students, 55 Teachers, 3 Teaching-Related Personnel and 5 non-teaching personnel. The school now equips for future challenges as it gears up to offer Senior High School Education.
